Estimate: about 17 characters a second, a relaxed pace for ads. Leave a second or two of silence at the start and end.
Cutting a script that is too long
- Remove the words that repeat what the picture already shows.
- Keep one benefit, not three.
- Replace long phrases with short ones: “Order today” instead of “Make sure you place your order today”.
- Say numbers simply: “nine ninety”.
